 Colouring a page today with watercolour pencils and washes...

TIDYING UP

Comic work this week has been performing a series of jobs in photoshop, under the umbrella term, "tidying up".

Inked pages are scanned, then mistakes are corrected. Dodgy lines, incorrect lettering, etc. Also, black areas are filled and typed lettering added where needed.

The pages are now ready for colouring next week, either digitally or with inks.

FRUSTRATION day 5

A frustrating day. 

I have a few related ideas for the cover of my next comic, "You Get What You Get".

I did some jotting down of notes, researching, and scribbling down of visuals.

None of it quite gelled though. I'll go back to it next week with fresh eyes and mind.

In the meantime, I have several inked pages to scan, tidy up, and colour.

WRITING WRITING WRITING COMICS

I'm deep into writing a lot of one page comics just now. I have 30 artists lined up to draw stories for me this summer. 

I write them in a series of panels on a page. This allows me to factor in page layout, and therefore reading flow, at the writing stage.

Then, to give the artist autonomy in how they lay it out, I convert what I've written into script form.

It's an interesting process, with pros and cons.
